SpeedChecker is a free internet speed test built around one idea: you should get an honest number in ten seconds, without signing up, installing anything, or wading through clutter. Open the page, tap GO, see your real download, upload and ping — and the provider and city you're actually connected through.
SpeedChecker measures your connection by transferring real data between your device and Cloudflare's global edge network — one of the largest networks in the world, with servers in hundreds of cities. Because the test server is almost always geographically close to you, the result reflects your line's true capability rather than the distance to some far-away test server.
No speed test is perfect: results vary with Wi-Fi conditions, other devices using the line, and the time of day. That's not a flaw — it's information. Testing wired vs wireless, morning vs evening, tells you where your bottleneck lives. Our troubleshooting guide shows how to read the differences.
Around the test itself we maintain a library of plain-language guides — what a good speed is, how much Wi-Fi really costs you, why fast connections can still feel laggy, and more. They're written to answer the questions a speed test raises, with concrete numbers instead of vague advice, and we update them as standards and services change.
SpeedChecker is built and maintained by Steady Apps, a small independent studio making focused, no-nonsense web tools. No sales team, no data brokerage — the site is supported by unobtrusive advertising, and the test itself is free for everyone, always.
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the test — see the privacy policy for the specifics.
