Most home connections are asymmetric — providers allocate far more capacity to download than upload, because people download much more than they upload. A lower upload number is completely normal and usually not a fault.
SpeedChecker transfers real data to nearby Cloudflare servers using several parallel connections, which reflects your true line capacity. For the most accurate result, use a wired connection (or stand close to your router), close other apps and downloads, and run the test a couple of times.
Common reasons: Wi-Fi distance or interference, an old router, peak-hour congestion, many devices sharing the line, or in-home wiring. Test with a cable directly from the router to see your real line speed — if that's also low, it's worth contacting your provider.
Mbps (megabits per second) is how much data your connection moves each second — bigger is faster. Ping is the delay, in milliseconds, for data to make a round trip — lower is more responsive. High Mbps with high ping can still feel laggy in games and calls.
